PACKAGING & PRODUCT SUSTAINABILITY
JSP is committed to improving sustainability and is investing time and resources to better understand how we can be more sustainable as a company by setting targets and working towards achieving them by having clear sustainability plans in place.
JSP will strive for continual improvement by reviewing our company’s sustainability objectives and work towards a greener future.
JSP APPROACH TO SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING
- JSP hold regular packaging review meetings to discuss sustainable packaging. There is representation from all JSP Departments to ensure the right approach is taken to ensure Product Lifecycle Management is met
- JSP holds regular reviews to redesign existing packaging to be more sustainable
- Increased use of recycled materials in reusable packaging
- Use easy to recycle packaging at end of product life
- Visit packaging exhibitions to learn about the latest technologies
- Member of the British Plastic Federation and attend forums on packaging to learn of the latest technologies and methods to be more sustainable
- JSP uses FSC certified cardboard for packaging boxes
- Recycled cardboard and non-bleached cardboard
- Reduction in the amount of plastic in bags by using thinner and smaller/closer fitting bags
- Introduction of paper recycled pouches on some production lines by late 2024
JSP - ELIMINATION OF SINGLE USE PLASTICS
Where possible JSP ensure plastic packaging is reusable by being resealable and therefore used as a storage unit as stipulated by the PPE regulation, to take care of the item of PPE in order to protect it, keep it dry and free from dust. For example the
Force®8 Half-Mask and
Sonis® range of Ear Defenders. This also prolongs lifespan of the product when PPE is stored correctly.
- Removal of plastic bags and use of tissue paper to protect logos on Helmet ranges
- Redesign of existing packaging to become a storage units so bag is reusable
- JSP offer a PPE Bag for life to ensure product is protected in the bag as a storage unit and to increase the life of product
JSP ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PACKAGING AND LABELLING
- FSC certified packaging with FSC certification number on packaging
- JSP use packaging with a high percentage of recycled cardboard
- Move to non-bleached cardboard for Helmet Boxes
- Use of the Triman Recycled symbols on packaging
- JSP use the Green Dot symbol which means that for such packaging, a financial contribution has been paid to a qualified national packaging recovery organisation
JSP ON UK SOURCING AND REDUCTION ON GLOBAL CARBON FOOTPRINT
- JSP ensure that the components and services we buy are as sustainable as possible, with the lowest environmental impact and most positive social results
- JSP’s Purchasing team audit suppliers of raw materials and stipulate how these are delivered to ensure sustainable procurement

- JSP is dedicated to using the latest technology and materials for the manufacture of PPE to ensure the highest quality sustainable PPE
- Our innovation team and in-house chemists are able to focus on Lifecycle Management of a product, analyse the different materials available and test the products during development using the JSP accredited BSI test houses to ensure they perform to the relevant PPE standard. JSP concentrate on developing innovative products which are reusable and have a long product life span
- JSP Group processes in excess of 120 tonnes of recycled material per week. We work closely with recycling partners to ensure the lifecycle of materials enabling us to reduce our carbon footprint, save costly landfill charges for contractors
